Artist's Statement - I've spent a lifetime observing the world around me, and capturing it on canvas. Over the years, mediums, styles and subjects have evolved, but my passion has never wavered, and I know that every artistic road I have taken has led me to the work I am creating today. Recently, that work combines my love of the iconic imagery of the New England coastline with my passion for history and anything vintage, culminating in unique figurative portraits of both commercial fisherman and the fish they pursue, as well as my updated interpretation of vintage people from a bygone era, juxtaposed with the New England coastline, harkening back to an earlier time, when visiting the coast to escape the heat and noise of the cities was a new and exciting concept. Although my choice of subjects to paint can sometimes tend toward the traditional, the execution is anything but, and often features unusual viewpoints, unique angles and unexpected perspectives. Whatever the subject, the final piece is always vibrant and colorful; at times whimsical; often nostalgic. Above all, decidedly unique.
Biography - Born and raised in Connecticut, I have had a lifelong love affair with New England and all of its iconic imagery and history. Throughout a career spanning over thirty-five years, my award-winning work has been featured in print and in galleries around New England, and can be found in private and corporate collections throughout the USA and abroad.
"To the attentive eye, each moment of the year has its own beauty...it beholds, every year, a picture which was never seen before, and which shall never be seen again." - Emerson
